Hi. I'm French, so excuse me for my bad English.

I'm new in the Slick world. I've been working on Pygame but it was too untidy for me.

I've read several posts on this forum and I wonder what is the best framework (performance, code readability, active)?

I found those:

• Marte Engine
• Artemis
• Apollo
• Spartan

Hi! I'm MarteEngine creator. My thoughts about frameworks:

MarteEngine: made for simple games in mind, performances are up to you, good readability, tutorials, not so active
Artemis: made for any kind of games, any renderer (not just slick2d), very good performances, need more documentation, very active
Apollo: just an experiment, interesting, very good performances, need more documentation, medium activity
Spartan: never tried it

I'm going to look at Artemis and yours to see which one is the most comfortable for me.

And for a very beginner like me, do you recommend to use a framework or may I try Slick without one?

try slick2d first, and look on tutorials here http://slick.cokeandcode.com/wiki/doku.php

then try another framework (IMHO)
