Nice!

I realize it's still in development and that you intend to make various changes, and I don't know how far you want to take this game, but I'll offer some feedback in case it brings to mind things that you hadn't thought of yet. And of course, take these with a grain of salt. It's your game, not mine!

Due to the round nature of the spacecraft, I found it difficult to visualize where the center/gun was amidst the action of the game. This made it more difficult to shoot the space debris. I would suggest making the gunpoint more obvious to the player, whether that be through changing the shape of the craft (a triangle shape comes to mind) or through adding a visible gun.

I would also recommend finding a way to make the movement of the ship more fluid. Right now it starts/stops instantly without any acceleration, which feels a little awkward.

When I got hit, sometimes I wasn't sure if I had been hit or if I had shot the asteroid just in time. I would then have to look at how many lives I had left in the corner of the screen. Some sort of notification (audio or visual) would help the player. However, I realize you haven't gotten to adding any sound yet.

Also, I personally think the gun could shoot faster.

With that said, keep up the good work!

Thanks for the feedback :)

I've been thinking about adding a lot of what you've mentioned, and sound is my next priority I hope to have it finished soon

but again, thanks for the feedback

Wasn't there a guy who did somewhat of a tutorial with that exactly? I don't mean to be mean, but like graphics and everything, also the FPS seems to be really low for what you are doing, should be around 100+ on a bad computer if you're rendering only like 6 things.
