I downloaded the "nightly build" and it shows very strange version information.

I assume this is incorrect and it's a build from Dec 19th.

The downloadable full package is said to be 6 months old, but that's normal probably.

The nightly build doesn't have a relevant version information, it's a nightly build - hence it's just a drop of the head of SVN ranther than a versioned release.
