The Magic Lampshade is a game that started as a school BPA competition. The four members of the team are all part of a Software Engineering Team. Our assignment is to create a game that has all of the following requirements:
Top-Down retro style RPG similar to Zelda or Final Fantasy.
    Local Database support
    User Login Authentication

The due date on the contest is December 31, 2011. It is not required that the game is fully functional at on the due date, however a working demo of The Magic Lampshade is to be released on that day.

At the time of this post the game has:
Working animations for characters in all directions and multiple TiledMap's.
Working code for moving from one map to another.
Basic level progression system to be extended.

At the time of this post I need:
An understanding of how to use TiledMap's Object Layer to block tiles from walking on.
    An understanding of TWL.
And I have no idea what to do for a database/user login...

Anyone willing to look over my code and provide suggestions,
I understand most of what has been done is repetitive and can be optimized.
This is my first Slick game and your opinions will be considered.

I attached a link to the website for The Magic Lampshade here https://sites.google.com/site/playretrogames/
And a link to the code in a pastie: http://pastie.org/2970862

So what do I use to get a TiledMaps blocked property from the object layer I've added to stop a character from walking over it?

And where to find TWL tutorials? (For dialog, health bar, main menu, pause screen)

Good luck. Don't be burned out if you don't make your release day. 23 days is not enough time imo.

Thanks I understand what you mean but I'm almost done coding a demo (after hard coding most of everything), what I really need is someone who can make/host a Webstart jnlp or applet.
EDIT: I can put out some screenshots if your interested.

I could host if you want. Wouldn't be a bother, the URL would probably look like this - http://dev.cryptum.net/the-magic-lampsh ... start.jnlp

Just want to inform the people here that progress has gone slowly but progress is progress, and I'm well on the way to a beta release of the game and if anyone here wants to see screenshots, videos, or in the future a beta key, pm me, or comment this thread.

Just ran the first build of the server/client oriented version of the game. This will soon allow multiple users via a database. Stick around for details/ updates!
