Hello guys...

I've finally ended coding for my first version of my commercial game (using slick2d ofc) and I'm in a need of a few days(weeks) off before starting on a Network server for the game.

I browsed the tutorials to see what was new (I haven't been around for more than an year) and I would like if people would like me to continue the tutorials I've started two years ago or if you would need some new tutorials of any kind.

I now have lots of time in my hands, since I am working in Paris for the next year or so, and I've got every night to myself and to visit France.

So what to do? Any specific tutorial you would want?

I think it would be nice to have a server tutorial.. I never made one to any of my games so I have no clues about structure or architecture and I'm planning to create one soon.

Apart from what I need, there's also two topics you could talk about:
-Path finding
-Pixel art

When I started with slick, I read your tutorials, so I can say they helped me a lot.

Thank you, those tutorials were a little mess back when I made them I was also learning to use slick and I'm glad they helped someone.

I was thinking on picking Google Application Engine and build a small server using it, its not for real time but for turn based games it should be enough to have a small group of people playing an online turn based game.
I'll see if it works and then create a tutorial on how to create a server and then use the G.A.E. with it.

I'm working with shaders in my slick game, maybe I will write a small tutorial or helper class.

Here's some text rendered with Slick and then animated with a shader using a displacement map. A still image doesn't do it justice, unfortunately...

I've also implemented some full screen effects like this one:

No major troubles integrating them with Slick.

Oh yeah, davedes, give us a shader tutorial :D

Do you already have something to show from the game you mention in your post?

@Spiegel: Google Application Engine: is that for free or only for a limited time or a number of client calls? Showing a technology where we have to pay for using it is not optimal IMHO.
But a multiplayer/network game tutorial would be cool

Cheers,
Tommy

Nothing much, just a starfield and simple post-processing with a shader. Working on the "engine" at the moment. Let me know if it works:
http://www.mediafire.com/?clqfqlzn9tb4cpb (fat jar -- but doesn't include win64/linux natives)

EDIT: Mouse click activates shader.

I'm interested on Entity Based Games like the tutorial on Slick Wiki. Mainly on how to make the components interact with each others, how the component will know if the entity that contains it also contains the other component it needs and how to use them.

I'd be interested in how to get a solid RPG (top-down, pokemon style) going.

VERY interested!!
